Provision of Sports Equipment to Rural Schools

Go Back to SERC Programs

Sports activities are important to a child's development, and such activities are usually part of a school's physical education program. However, some rural schools in China do not have the resources to acquire the most basic sports equipment, such as basketball shooting boards or balls.

To help these schools, ESS started in 2005 to provide some simple sports equipment to a small number of needy schools. These are funded by contributions from sponsors, at a cost of US$1,000 for each school. By 2012, 52 rural schools have benefited from this project.
